Bias in Photo Representation
The moths FIRST to be depicted here will be all of the countless smaller species the ones that the "trophy-hunters" never see and regularly stomp on, while grabbing at everything BIG (.... as is the American way). It is amongst the hundreds of SMALLER moths that the observant collector is most likely to turn up something truly exciting a species that is new to science! There are many moths in this category "out there", still awaiting discovery, particularly in the western U.S.A. and in all of the tropical/subtropical regions of the planet.... It is not necessary to hurtle off into outer space to find "new" frontiers; they exist right here in our own back yards, if we could but SLOW DOWN and really look!!....
H.D. Thoreau gets the final word on this topic:

"It takes a man [or woman!] of genius to travel in his own country in his native village to make any progress between his door and his garden gate!"
    Journal (6 Aug. 1851)
AND
"The discoveries which we make abroad are special and particular; those which we make at home are general and significant. The further off, the nearer the surface; the closer to home, the deeper."
    Journal (7 Sep. 1851)
